Meeting Chef Doug at Rocky Pond Winery in Woodin Creek Village

Today was Wine Wednesday, Thanksgiving Eve and also our first trip to Woodin Creek Village and the new Rocky Pond Winery tasting room in Woodinville. Jen and I were so impressed with the gorgeous new space. We can’t wait to come back and sit inside when the day comes that wineries can serve inside again.

Meanwhile, we admired Rocky Pond Winery’s spacious outdoor patios with plenty of heaters, and Jen immediately made an appointment to bring her fiance back for a wine tasting flight on the patio this weekend.

We chatted with Alexander and Brianna who were busy setting up for Thanksgiving to-go wine and meal orders, but they kindly gave us their time on a busy day.

They introduced us to Chef Doug Setniker, the new Director of Culinary Experiences. He was so gracious to let us interview him on the spot and take up so much of his time when he needed to do so much cooking (for Thanksgiving wine and food pairing to-go orders). He explained that Rocky Pond Winery serves food, but is not a restaurant. The food is meant to accentuate and amplify the leisurely wine tasting experience.

We wanted to be sure to mention Rocky Pond’s holiday wine, “Wenceslas Red Blend.” All profits from this holiday wine are donated to local charities.

Chef Doug generously poured us a sample of his Rocky Pond Mulled Spiced Wine. Jen had to drink mine since I’m allergic to cinnamon (most spiced drinks use cinnamon so I wasn’t taking any chances) and you see here she is not at all complaining!
