This past weekend, I stopped by The Picnic Table Cafe in Woodinville to chat with owner Chef Dani about his new PicNic Table Cafe Pantry and Thanksgiving To-Go options.
The PicNic Table Cafe Pantry is comprised of to-go food items you can run in and grab (well, after you pay for them, of course!) to take home and help make your dinner preparation easier. During my visit, I saw two pasta sauces (Puttanesca and Sugo), homemade Italian giardiniera, and some scalloped potatoes ready to go home to be reheated quickly for a meal.
Chef Dani decided to offer different options than the usual Thanksgiving canon of turkey and sides. I love this! I’m tired of traditional favorites and open to exploring new dishes this year for my Friendsgiving/Thanksgiving celebration at home. (I’ll be hosting a virtual Friendsgiving on video chat to commiserate with other friends spending Thanksgiving safely home by ourselves).
Take a look at The PicNic Table’s Thanksgiving to-go curbside menu here, and be sure to order early if possible! Instead of turkey for your entree, you can choose between a porchetta (I am vegetarian and had to look this up – it’s an Italian pork roast), a 2-serving lasagna, or a 2-serving Chicken Parmigiana. For sides, you can choose from roasted root vegetables and scalloped potatoes, and for dessert you might like a chocolate pot du creme or a Nutella Bigné (beignet).
I didn’t have any lighting or a microphone with me, so this video interview with Chef Dani is a bit dark and noisy, but check it out on YouTube:
Happy Thanksgiving!
