Stocking Up on Local Woodinville Whiskey and Bourbon for Autumn Manhattans

I’m not really supposed to tell you this, but it’s quite common for wine bloggers to go home after a long busy exhausting day of wine tasting, wine photography and wine blogging, and turn to something a little more.. substantial.. for their evening drink of choice.

For me, that’s Whiskey or Bourbon, preferably found in an ice cold Manhattan cocktail.

Today I stopped by Woodinville Whiskey Co. to help support a local business AND restock my liquor cabinet for the long rainy autumn nights ahead. After last weekend, I came dangerously close to running out of my favorite bourbon, and that’s just not acceptable.

We were greeted outside at the front door by an employee who inquired if we were shopping or tasting. A little tent has been set up with barrels so you can enjoy an outdoor whiskey tasting flight. I already know how delicious their liquor is, so I went inside to shop.

I’m trying to stay home more and minimize my trips out, so I decided to buy one of everything they sell: A Double Barrel Whiskey, the Bourbon, and the Rye Whiskey. Now note that you can often find the Bourbon and/or Rye at Trader Joe’s and Costco, but the distillery gets to keep more of your $ if you buy directly from them.

Here’s the Manhattan cocktail recipe I use, from Liquor.com. Tonight I think I’ll light a fire against the autumn dark and rain, and sip a Rye Manhattan in front of the fireplace while watching an episode or two of The Crown season 4!

Happy sipping!
