Each week I have been inviting two or three wine industry friends over to my backyard for a careful social distanced wine tasting. I open six or seven bottles of Woodinville or Lake Chelan wine and each guest gets to re-cork and take home a couple bottles at the end of the night.
I haven’t been able to really serve my guests much food (it’s not thought safe for us to all touch the same dishes or take food from communal salad bowls, etc). Usually we order UberEats or everyone brings their own sack lunch “dinner.”
Today I came up with an idea to use my bento snack boxes to serve a few snacks to accompany the wine. I wash my hands thoroughly, wear a mask while working in my kitchen, and fill the snack boxes with nuts, cheese, crackers and perhaps a little chocolate. Each guest gets a bento box on arriving along with her wine glass.
Take a look inside the snack boxes full of cheese, crackers, olives and nuts:
You can find similar plastic black bento boxes to mine at Bento & Co.
Have you been throwing careful small gatherings in your back yard this summer too? What ideas have you had for carefully serving food to your friends? Let me know in the comments below!
