I recently made a trip to Woodinville’s Matthews Winery to stock up on their wines via the curbside pickup option. I had not ordered ahead, so when I arrived, I called the tasting room at the pick up order number, (253)-327-8615.
As you can see, the doors to the winery were open because of the sunny weather, but Matthews is not open for tastings currently, due to COVID-19. They are still open for wine bottle sales inside the tasting room.
I decided to just drive up and shop from the curbside counter! The one thing that I noticed was that the bottles were placed in the direct sunlight, but I am guessing that they won’t be there for very long.
Here was the lineup for bottle sales. I purchased a bottle of the 2018 Sauvignon Blanc and a bottle of the 2016 Reserve Claret. I should have picked up several bottles of the Sauvignon Blanc, it is a favorite of mine. It’s a blend of 96% Sauvignon Blanc and 4% Semillon aged in 90% stainless steel and 10% oak barrels.
Ordering slips were available, along with hand sanitizer and a pen for guests to take with them after using. Isn’t it shocking now when you go to a store, or tasting room and you realize how often you used to pick something up and then set it back down? I am definitely doing my part to only touch what I intend to buy or keep. It was thoughtful of the staff at Matthews to also think of this for everyone’s safety.
The single varietal Tenor Wines lineup is also available. I am considering ordering a bottle online to celebrate Walla Walla wine month. I have not yet tried this line and I’m intrigued by the Malbec and again, the Sauvignon Blanc.
At home, I paired this bottle with a Caprese salad. If there is one thing that I build a grocery store list around, I would confess it is Burrata! I could eat Caprese every day and never grow tired of it. If you would like us to create a post with some recipe ideas, let us know in the comments below!
If you would like to shop for Matthews wine online, they are offering free shipping on 3 bottles or more. If you are in Woodinville, the tasting room and curbside pickup counter are open for bottle sales Monday-Thursday 12-5 pm, Friday-Saturday 11 am-7 pm and Sunday from 1-5 pm.
Cheers everyone and please stay home and stay safe!
