We have nearly 125 wineries and tasting rooms in Woodinville, and nearly all of them specialize in Washington wine made from grapes grown in Washington vineyards. However, three out-of-the-box thinkers are giving us the opportunity to taste wines that were grown almost exclusively in Oregon. Check it out, and visit them when everything opens up again if you can!
Panther Creek Cellars
Tucked around the back corner from Lachini Vineyards and Purple Cafe, you’ll find Panther Creek Cellars. Besides their incredibly fantastic Pinot Noirs, you can buy their Willamette Valley Chardonnay, and an intriguing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir white blend. When businesses are back open sometime in the future, we highly recommend a trip to try their vertical tastings of pinot noirs from different vineyards.
Lachini Vineyards
Oh how I miss hanging out on the beautiful patio at Lachini Vineyards in the Hollywood District! Meanwhile, luckily I stocked up on their Oregon wines recently. They have an estate vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains, and source grapes from Quintessence Vineyard in Red Mountain, and from the Sonoma Coast. As you can expect, they offer several outstanding Pinot Noirs and a port style wine made from Pinot Noir, but they also make a Cabernet Sauvignon, a red wine blend, a Chardonnay and a sparkling rosé made from Pinot Noir and a little bit of Chardonnay.
Owner Ron Lachini promised me he’ll have his outdoor pizza oven working this summer – can’t wait to eat pizza and drink Lachini pinot on that beautiful patio!
Torii Mor Winery
If you haven’t yet visited the Torii Mor tasting room here in Woodinville, you’ll find it tucked around the back in the Apple Farm Village. They specialize in Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley.
Besides their award-winning Pinot Noir, they sell a Pinot Blanc, a Pinot Gris, a Rosé (of Pinot Noir, naturally), a Chardonnay, a late harvest Viognier (though it’s sold out) and even a port style wine. This is a well-kept secret and a nice intimate tasting room, and we highly recommend visiting it.
