Happy May Day! Summer is just around the corner, and we were blessed with a warm sunny May Day. We so deserved it after our snowier-than-normal Seattle winter.
I couldn’t wait to get out into my Woodinville backyard and soak up some sun! I played hooky for a couple of hours with wine, a book, and a treat. Can you really blame me?
I set up a little reading nook for myself, making it festive with flowers and a flowery spring pillow for my back. (I took the wine bottle inside after taking the photos, to keep it chilled, as you can imagine!)

I was craving Rosé (as you probably could guess), and happened to have this Cedergreen Cellars wine on hand.
Cedergreen Cellars is located in Kirkland, but produces their wine in a production facility in Woodinville.
Their 2017 “Viola Rosé” is a Gamay Noir Rosé, the first one I’ve tried! It’s made with 60% Gamay Noir, 40% Cabernet Franc. (The 2018 “Viola Rosé” is a 50/50 blend of Gamay Noir and Cabernet Franc).
I picked it up at the PCC Community Market on Avondale in Redmond. I like pairing pink wine with cookies on a Spring day. I’d already had lunch, so just wanted a little sugary treat, not a huge snack.
This adorable box of “Pinks and Whites” circus animal style cookies costs less than $4 at Trader Joe’s. (The white cookies look yellow to me though!)
Now, I assure you I did not eat this entire plate of cookies by myself! I nibbled on quite a few, yes.. but I did share some with my boyfriend when he came home later in the evening!
How did you spend your May Day? Did you open any Woodinville wines, or perhaps a Washington wine, for your May Day celebration? Let us know in the comments below!
