After touring and photographing the new Teatro Zinzanni Woodinville on a bitterly cold weekday, Jen and I were chilled to the bone and hungry for hot comfort food. We decided that Barking Frog was the perfect place for our post-tour lunch, so we headed over to Willows Lodge.
Jen was impressed by the large table that surrounds a cozy fire pit.
We stopped to admire the collection of wine magnums from local and Washington state wineries.
The wine library here is impressively extensive! Sadly, we both had to forego ordering wine during this visit – Jen had a long drive home, and I had a long workday ahead of me to focus on. Shoot!
We haven’t been here in so long. We glanced longingly at the patio, securely put away for fall and winter. We’ll look forward to sitting out there in the spring of 2019!
Jen ordered the hot smoked turkey sandwich, which comes with cranberry chutney and Barking Frog’s life-changing French fries. That’s melted havarti you see generously covering the bread.
I was delighted to find the mushroom bisque is vegetarian (no chicken or beef broth was used) so I started with that. That’s chili oil you see on the top of it.
I would totally come back again soon for another bowl of this soup!
I threw dietary caution to the wind and indulged in the Tillamook white cheddar mac and cheese. It’s topped with brioche breadcrumbs.
You can choose to add bacon, crab, pork belly, lobster or truffle oil to your macaroni and cheese. I opted for the truffle oil. It enhanced the flavor and was definitely worth the extra $4.
The portion served to me was so rich and thick, I could only eat half of it. I took the other half home and enjoyed it as an 11 pm naughty bedtime snack.
On our way out, we noticed a long lineup of burgers, a very popular item to order here!
Barking Frog is located at 14580 NE 145th St, Woodinville, WA 98072.
