I spied these Le Biscuit Rose de Reims cookies on Amazon recently and was really curious. Would they be super sweet or distract from the flavor of a local Woodinville Rosé? I ordered them, planning to serve them at my Mother’s Day party. As always, Amazon surprised me with how quickly my purchase arrived on my doorstep. Love that!
It’s been a long, difficult week, full of computer-related frustrations, fixing mistakes I made at work, and car trouble. I don’t want you to think I sit around drinking Rosé all day, but thought I’d make an exception for this #ThirstyThursday.
I broke into the box of “biscuits” and experimentally nibbled one. It was pretty flavorless (that makes sense, because they’re meant to be dipped into a glass of Rosé and wouldn’t want to clash with it.) The texture was fabulous – crisp and a bit airy inside. Now, I’ll admit, if I didn’t have a glass of wine around to dunk these into, I’d definitely munch on them during an afternoon snack attack, light on flavor or no!
I reached for the nearest Rosé I already had open from a recent photo shoot for the blog – the 2017 Gorman Rosé. Once I had dipped the biscuit into the Rosé, let it sit for a second, and bitten into it, I realized why people in Reims created this biscuit-dunking tradition for their Champagne long ago! It made the cookie very tasty, and amplified the flavors in the Rosé in a very pleasant way. I’d better put away the box and bottle and force myself to only finish this one glass and one small plateful of biscuits!
You can purchase Biscuit Rose cookies on Amazon.
You can also purchase them boxed in an attractive metal tin, for gifting.
