The other day I was out exploring Woodinville’s Artisan Hill wine tasting warehouse district and stumbled across The PicNic Table. It’s a Mediterranean style cafe tucked into a strip mall near several wine tasting rooms.
I’ve been curious about it for quite a long time but never really set off on a quest to find it, so I was glad to happen upon it. It could really use a sign near the top of the building – I wonder if the strip mall landlord doesn’t allow that?
Inside, I was greeted warmly by the friendly chef. I appreciated that he let me run around taking photos on zero advance notice! He mentioned that The PicNic Table is also affiliated with Amato Catering, who you can hire for both corporate or private events.
The PicNic Table is inspired by Mediterranean cafes. You can eat lunch or snacks here, or create a picnic to take with you to nearby wine tasting rooms. You can also order pre-made gourmet food baskets to go.
I was glad to see some vegetarian options on the menu, though I’d prefer to see a couple more offered as well. Their Yelp reviews suggest they’re willing to make some adjustments and accomodations, so that’s good to know. My meat-eating boyfriend would love several of the sandwiches on this menu – I’ll have to bring him here soon! And I will be excited to try out their cheese plate, nuts and olives.
Peering into this refrigerated case, I spied all sorts of cheeses, olives, sparkling water and Italian soda, and gourmet foods waiting to be tucked into picnic lunch boxes.
The decor inside is meant to reinforce a relaxed, informal feeling of a “casual weekend.”
I will definitely pop in here with a couple friends next time we go wine tasting in the Woodinville warehouse district! We always want to eat some sort of food before we go wine tasting, and I’m glad to have this as an option.
You can rent out The PicNic Table for a private meeting, brunch, dinner, cocktail party or business meeting. There’s room for fifty people standing, or thirty seated.
The PicNic Table is located at 18672 142nd Ave NE, Woodinville, WA 98072. They’re open Wednesday through Sunday, 11am to 6pm.
