Another Fun Tasting at Apple Farm Village: Obelisco Estate Winery

We were delighted that our friend Joanna had a Thursday off in late July and could join us in exploring the tasting rooms at the Apple Farm Village.

First we had to stop to admire the gorgeous hydrangeas planted on the property. And of course we wanted to pose for a photo to remember our fun day (and show off our leisurely wine tasting afternoon to our friends on social media, naturally!)

We were in the mood to check out Obelisco Estate Winery’s tasting room, so in we went.

I think we look pretty thirsty, don’t you?

Look at their busy events list! This photo is a bit outdated, but imagine how many fun events they must have planned for August and September! You can take a look at their events page to find out what they have going on next in their Woodinville tasting room.

Their spacious tasting room is welcoming and well laid out.

We love the large windows and French doors that let in so much light.

This cozy side room can be used for visiting tasting groups.

We had so much fun with the tasting room hostess – and learned a lot about wine tasting from her! Obelisco Estate’s wine is from the Red Mountain AVA.

Here’s a look at Obelisco’s five pours they were offering in July.

The tasting began with their Cabernet Sauvignon Rose. (You’re probably not surprised to hear that – this summer nearly every Woodinville tasting room we’ve visited has begin with their Rose!) Two of us immediately declared our intentions to buy a bottle each to take home.

Next was their Malbec, fruit forward with blackberry, raspberry, and cherry aromas.

The tasting continued with a delicious 2013 Merlot and then a 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon.

We chatted with the wine steward a bit, and then were served two more pours: Their fantastic 2013 Electrum Cabernet and then the 2013 III Nefer Cabernet. Jen is quite a red wine lover and was excited to sample and compare totally different Cabernets.

Not all tasting rooms in Woodinville sell glass pours, so we were delighted to discover that Obelisco does. You can choose from their riesling, Rose, Syrah, Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet, II Nefer Cabernet, or Electrum.

They of course offer a few gift suggestions!

There’s some very interesting art you can admire on the walls while enjoying your wine tasting.

We like the festive lights, leather sofas and soft rugs – such a relaxing place to visit.

Here Obelisco Estate is showcasing their awards and some of their large format wines.

Pay them a visit next time you stop by the Apple Farm Village! They also have a tasting room in the Woodinville Warehouse District.
